Bio

Katie Damon is a teaching and performing harpist based in northern Utah. She takes great pleasure in performing all styles of music on the harp, especially those least expected by her audience.

By the age of thirteen months, Katie declared that she wanted to play the harp.  She spent the following four years begging her parents to be allowed to learn to play, and began lessons at the age of five.  At that time, Katie was so small that her father tethered the harp to a bolt in the ceiling so that it could not fall over on her.  Now that she has grown up a bit, Katie has performed on free-standing harps in twelve states and five countries on three continents.

Katie completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Harp Performance with Honors at the University of Arizona.  She is currently studying with Dr. Heidi Hernandez of Phoenix.  Her other major teachers include Julie Gaisford Keyes and Dr. Carrol McLaughlin.
